Swiss banking giant, UBS, has agreed to pay $1.44 billion in penalties to settle fraud claims that it misled investors in the United States with residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) it sold in the run-up to the 2008 financial crisis, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said today (Monday).
